Getting around while you’re here

Of those guests who do come to Keswick by car, many leave their car in our car park for the duration of their stay.

Various forms of public transport are available and there are significant advantages, especially if you plan to get out onto the fells. Parking in places near your chosen route can be limited, so unless your off early in the morning, you might have to change your plans. You will also be restricted to circular routes, unless you fancy walking on roads at the beginning or end of the day. Public transport gives a greater range of options, and lets the driver enjoy the view as well!

Keswick Launch on Derwent Water – just like an aquatic bus service, the Keswick, Launch travels clockwise and anti-clockwise round Derwent Water on a regular 30 minute timetable. With 7 stops on the circuit, it provides an excellent means of access to and from the Newlands Fells (Catbells, Causey Pike, Hindscarth, High Spy etc.) as well as Grange and Ashness Bridge. It’s pleasant trip in own right!
